Infrared saunas use infrared light to produce radiant heat.
Instead of relying only on extremely hot air to warm your body, infrared energy transfers heat directly to the body while also warming the surrounding environment. As your body temperature rises, you’ll begin to sweat just as you would during other forms of heat exposure.
The result is a warm, relaxing experience that many people find more comfortable than a traditional high-temperature sauna.
People use infrared sauna sessions for a variety of wellness and recovery goals.
Regular sauna use may help support:
And sometimes the biggest benefit is simply having a quiet place to disconnect and relax for a little while.
At Better You, we believe feeling better involves more than what you see on the scale.
Sleep, stress management, movement, nutrition, hydration, and recovery all play a role in overall wellness. Infrared sauna sessions can be incorporated into your routine as another way to prioritize recovery and self-care.
If you’re currently working toward a weight-loss or fitness goal, sauna sessions can also be a relaxing addition to your routine after exercise or between workouts.
You’ll relax inside the sauna while the temperature gradually creates a warm environment.
As your body heats up, sweating is expected. Many people use their session as an opportunity to relax, listen to music or a podcast, meditate, or simply enjoy some uninterrupted quiet time.
You should never feel like you have to “push through” excessive heat. If you become dizzy, lightheaded, nauseated, weak, or otherwise uncomfortable, you should end your session and allow your body to cool down.
Session length can vary depending on your experience with sauna use, personal tolerance, and individual health considerations.
If you’re new to infrared sauna therapy, we may recommend beginning with a shorter session and gradually increasing your time as tolerated.
Our team can help you determine an appropriate starting point.
Frequency depends on your goals, tolerance, hydration status, and overall health.
Some people enjoy occasional sauna sessions when they need to relax or recover, while others choose to incorporate them more regularly into their wellness routine.
There is no need to make every session as hot or as long as possible. Consistency and listening to your body are more important than trying to tolerate extreme heat.
Because sauna use causes sweating and fluid loss, hydration is important before and after your session. We recommend arriving well hydrated and drinking fluids after your session to replace what you lose through sweating. Depending on your activity level, session length, and amount of sweating, electrolyte replacement may also be appropriate.
